Kicking, Punting & Snapping Coach

Sean Snyder is one of the most decorated special teams coaches in college football. Coach Snyder's last coaching job in NCAA football was coaching punters and kickers at Oklahoma State, a role he took on in 2024.

His coaching career spans four Power Five programs. Before Stillwater he served as Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Kansas in 2023, was special teams coordinator and specialists coach at Illinois in 2022, and was special teams coordinator at USC in 2020 and 2021. In his first season at USC the Trojans finished No. 1 nationally in Football Outsiders’ special teams rating.

The bulk of his career was spent at Kansas State, where he was on staff for nearly 30 years — first as an All-America punter, then through football operations and athletics administration, and finally as special teams coordinator and associate head coach from 2011 to 2018. Under him, K-State finished in the top 15 of ESPN’s Special Teams Efficiency rating five times, ranking first in 2017, second in 2015 and third in 2012. He was named national Special Teams Coordinator of the Year in 2015 by FootballScoop and Phil Steele, and again by Phil Steele in 2017.

His specialists set or tied eight team records and 20 individual marks at Kansas State. He coached four Big 12 Special Teams Players of the Year — Tyler Lockett in 2013 and 2014, Morgan Burns in 2015 and Joshua Youngblood in 2019 — along with All-Americans at kicker, returner and long snapper.

As a player, Snyder was a consensus All-American punter at Kansas State in 1992, averaging 44.7 yards per punt; his 43.0 career average remains a school record. He is a member of Kansas State’s Ring of Honor and Athletics Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2024.
